Interest in degrowth is on the rise and you could easily find yourself engaged in a conversation about degrowth in the near future. So what is it all about, how is interest in degrowth building and if you are a degrowth supporter, how can you discuss it persuasively with those who may find the whole idea unthinkable? In this presentation to New Zealand climate group Our Climate Declaration, Jennifer Wilkins presents two aspects of degrowth: firstly, as a mechanism to reach a sustainable economy; and secondly, the process of building societal acceptance of degrowth.
Our Climate Declaration is a group of activists campaigning for a just and sustainable post-carbon Aotearoa New Zealand. They believe that a transition to a no-growth Economy of Enough is key to achieving these goals and seek to stimulate debate on this new economic paradigm. They also monitor policies and hold government to account.
